BC Marine Trails Network Association: In the Coastal Caretakers Project, BC Marine Trails expanded the educational resources to include videos and print materials, as well as social media outreach and presentations. The goal is to publicize the Marine Code of Conduct and encourage recreational paddlers and community members to become Coastal Caretakers.  

Canada’s National History Society: With funding from Chawkers, CNHS developed and distributed Heritage Fairs Classroom Kits to teachers across Canada for their use with students.

The Children's Book Centre

Canadian Children’s Book Centre: The Accessible Books for Young Readers project is designed to raise awareness of the need for accessible books, enhance discoverability of Canadian titles and help children with print disabilities gain access to them. 

North Coast Ecology: The North Coast Ecology Centre Society aims to develop educational programming that highlights the Prince Rupert region’s ecological richness, both terrestrial and marine. The exhibits about species, habitats and conservation will become a community resource for locals to connect with the environment around them. 

Community Forests International: In Common Ground Phase 2, CFI will support its partner, The Wolastoquey Nation in New Brunswick, in a number of community-building and training activities. All project activities will be in the service of improving Wolastoquey access to their traditional territory and working toward Land Back in New Brunswick. 

Datastream Initiative: Chawkers funding is supporting the creation of bilingual environmental educational resources for community water monitors. These will include animated videos, digital and print publications, and webinars. 

East Coast Environmental Law: This project builds capacity from the bottom up, by providing law students in Atlantic Canada with experience learning in collaboration with environmental and community groups facing real environmental issues. 

Elements Society for Environmental Education and Leadership: EcoCooks Elementary will take learners through a series of immersive, skill-building workshops that explore environmental themes while inspiring learners to take environmental action through food. 

Écologie (GRAME): The Lecteurs en herbe program aims to develop literacy skills in children aged 2 to 7 and to raise awareness about environmental issues. Funding will go towards content adaptation for allophone children and development of a kit for autonomous use. 

Nunavut Association of Non-Profit Organizations: Many Nunavut non-profit organizations face tremendous challenges of high demand and limited resources. Developing governance policy templates will help Nunavut NPO’s to strengthen their governance, sustain their programs and operate more effectively.  

Raising the Roof: In the Winnipeg Reside II program, RTR will use the renovation of a 24-unit building into supporting housing as a training opportunity for 60 to 80 individuals facing systemic barriers to employment. 

Restigouche River Water Management Council: Chawkers has renewed its support for Watershade Program which advances the conservation, protection and enhancement of thermal refuges and habitat for aquatic ecosystems. 

Rockwalk Park: Funding will provide bilingual signage that includes a QR code linked to the park website in the Rockwalk Park Arboretum in Haileybury, Ontario. 

Green Neighbours Network: This grant supported the hiring of a full-time intern to provide communications, outreach, engagement, admin and fundraising support. 

Stepstones for Youth: The Building Connections Program assists equity-seeking youth in and from the foster care system who are at high risk of educational disengagement and require unique and intensive programming to complete their schooling. Youth are supported in developing education plans, attending school regularly, accessing critical academic supports and pursuing post-secondary education. 

P.I.N.E Project: With funding from Chawkers, P.I.N.E has developed and implemented a year-long outdoor education program in partnership with Rose Avenue Public School in St. James Town, to give students access to a dynamic outdoor education program that enriches curriculum and connects young people to nature.

The Reading Partnership: TRP is rolling out the nation-wide delivery of the Reading Partnership for Parents program and its digital counterpart R-POD in low income, high potential communities, with the goal of boosting children’s literacy. 

Water First Education and Training: Water First will be piloting a new Environmental Water Internship in 2024-2025 to provide a paid 15-month internship opportunity for Indigenous community members. 10 – 12 individuals will build technical and employable skills, and achieve certifications to water and fish resource management. 

Wildlife Preservation Canada: WPC engages the public in bumble bee conservation by teaching survey and identification techniques so that they can report sightings to the on-line Bumble Bee Watch platform. WPC will expand the program to include in-person and virtual training.
