In 2003 we committed to providing the funding necessary to launch the Walrus Magazine, with a mandate to promote educational discourse about matters vital to Canadians. In recognition of the key role that the media play in supporting an informed citizenship, The Walrus Foundation was created as a charitable entity in 2005, and has become a pillar of fact-based journalism in many forms.
We continue to support The Walrus Foundation’s writers and artists, fund the local bureaus program and sponsor a Fellowship for young journalists.
