Grants and Applications

The foundation is interested in new initiatives in the field of environmental programs, of education and/or of non-fiction writing. We also look for projects that have an element of community-building and network-creation in the goals.

We consider requests for grants up to $35,000 and we do not in general give multi-year commitments.

The first step in applying for a grant is submitting a short 250-word description of your program. After the proposals are reviewed, a full application form will be sent to the groups whose projects we’re considering. The board will meet to assess these applications.

The next deadline for proposals is April 2, 2024, and earlier submissions are welcomed.

We’re mindful of making the process efficient for charities, so we’re suggesting that proposals touch on three points:

  1. What is the need that your work addresses, and what is the evidence for this need?
  2. Why is your group well-equipped to address this need? (Perhaps you can reference past achievements).
  3. Summarize the details of how your program would work, and describe how will you measure success.

Proposals may be submitted in French or English.

Inquiries and proposals can be sent to  information@thechawkersfoundation.org .
